UNIVERSITY OF MINNESOTA ROWING TANK
MINNEAPOLIS, MINNESOTA
Although their boathouse was only 12 years old, the University of Minnesota rowing teams felt that their rowing tank was not adequate to meet their needs. This was particularly important given the short on-water season necessitated by the cold Minnesota climate. The University hired Vincent James Associates, Peterson Architects, and Inriver Tank and Boat to design and install a new powered rowing tank to replace the existing tank. This new tank fits 10 rowers (constrained by the existing available space) and allows the rowers to practice indoors in water that feels similar to the experience of rowing on the water.
