(Project of Architectural Resources Cambridge)

A 180,000 s.f. research lab and classroom complex for Tufts' medical and nutrition schools. Located in downtown Boston near the Tufts Health Sciences Campus, the facility houses physiology, pathology, microbiology, anatomy, pharmacology and biochemistry research laboratories.

The facility provides space for researchers to explore the nature of diseases; how they start and develop, and how they change over time. Laboratories for nutritionists allow them to study the connections between diet and health.

The lab floors include clean rooms, open labs, support spaces and office suites, allowing for collaboration and flexible usage.

The building was carefully designed with feedback from the Chinatown neighborhood. Its exterior mediates between the massing and traditional facades of its neighbors and a expressive contemporary appearance.
